Welcome, Katie, and Thank You, Olana!
As our chapter continues to grow, I'd like to share an important board transition. Please join me in welcoming Katie Roney as our new Marketing and Social Media Director. We're excited to have her join the leadership team and look forward to the ideas and energy she will bring to promoting SESHRM and engaging our members.
I'd also like to extend a sincere thank you to Olana Munson for her dedicated service to SESHRM. Over the years, Olana has generously stepped into multiple volunteer roles and consistently supported our chapter wherever help was needed. Her commitment, flexibility, and willingness to serve have made a meaningful impact, and we are incredibly grateful for her contributions.
Join Us for Our September Chapter Meeting
Employment laws continue to evolve, and understanding how leave and accommodation requirements intersect remains one of the more complex challenges HR professionals face.
Our September program, ADA, FMLA, and PWFA: Navigating Overlap and Compliance, will be presented by Jean H. Bender, Of Counsel with Davenport, Evans, Hurwitz & Smith, LLP. Jean will provide practical guidance on managing the overlap between the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA), helping attendees better understand employer obligations, avoid common compliance pitfalls, and confidently address workplace situations. The program is approved for SHRM Professional Development Credits (PDCs) and offers valuable insights for HR professionals at all levels.
Board Elections Are Coming Soon
Serving on the SESHRM Board is one of the most rewarding ways to contribute to our profession while helping shape the future of our chapter. This fall, we will be seeking candidates for several leadership positions:
- President-Elect
- Secretary
- Programs Director
- Certification Director*(SHRM certification required, along with national and local membership in good standing) *
If you've ever considered becoming more involved, I encourage you to explore these opportunities. Our chapter thrives because members are willing to share their talents, ideas, and leadership. Watch for additional information regarding nominations and elections in the coming weeks.
Become a Meeting Sponsor
We're always looking for organizations interested in partnering with SESHRM through meeting sponsorships. Sponsoring a chapter meeting is an excellent way to gain visibility with HR professionals, business leaders, and decision-makers from across the region while demonstrating support for the local HR community. If your organization would like to learn more about sponsorship opportunities, we'd love to hear from you.
Thank You to Our Gold Sponsor
A special thank you to our Gold Sponsor, Sioux Falls Development Foundation, for their continued support of SESHRM and our members. They will host the WIN in Workforce Summit on October 22 at 8:30 a.m. at the Canopy by Hilton in Downtown Sioux Falls. This event will bring together employers, community leaders, and workforce professionals to discuss innovative solutions and strategies for addressing workforce challenges in our region.
Thank you for your continued engagement and support of SESHRM. I look forward to seeing many of you at our September meeting and appreciate all that you do to make our chapter strong.
