RE-BRANDING HR: HOW TO TRANSITION FROM TACTICAL OPERATOR TO STRATEGIC PARTNER

Presented by Elisa Garn

The value of HR is at an all-time high. The Chief People Officer title is one of the highest in demand and hardest to fill. How are you preparing to evolve into an adaptive, progressive strategist to meet the current and future needs of the employee experience?

It starts with your mindset. This session discusses how to prepare mentally for change and how to become an in-demand leader through creating confidence, telling stories and building tribes.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Promotes a growth mindset
  2. Clarifies roles and responsibilities of various HR professionals and skill sets
  3. Informs HR on what CEO’s expect based on current survey data (2018/2019)
  4. Provides action plan on how to get buy in, increase credibility and elevate the role HR plays in the C-suite/executive team

Elisa Garn is VP of Thought Leadership & Brand Marketing - GBS Benefits and Utah SHRM Executive Director. Her experience includes more than 15 years in HR, recruiting and business development primarily with small to mid-sized businesses. A true Xennial (the micro generation between Gen X and Millennials), she is often an early adopter with a natural curiosity for all things – Especially people!

Her passion for the HR profession is obvious: She is a member of the Forbes Human Resource Council, has served as the President for Salt Lake SHRM, co-founded DisruptHR SLC, currently serves as the Executive Director for Utah SHRM and acts as an advisor and member of several business-focused groups. Elisa holds the SHRM-SCP, SPHR, PRC and SHRM Talent Management Specialty Credential certifications. A true believer of the global impact HR can have on creating a better human experience, her career path now focuses on the advocacy and influence for the progression of the HR function within the business environment.

Monthly chapter meetings and HR educational presentations are free for members and $20 for non-members.

We apply for continuing educational credits from SHRM and HRCI for our presentations. We anticipate this event will qualify for HRC Business Credits.

Events are currently planned for a virtual presentation format; in-person presentations will be adjusted as local COVID-19 related conditions permit.
