Colleen Moran, Chief Operating Officer for Independent Living Choices will present on Interacting with Individuals with Disabilities in the Workplace (And Other Emerging Employment Issues).

About 100,000 individuals with disabilities call South Dakota home. Approximately 50,000 of those individuals are employed. So, nearly every business or organization currently employs, or will at some time employ, people with disabilities. Therefore, it is essential for employers to understand their obligations and responsibilities to these employees. This engaging presentation will equip attendees with the information, tools, resources, and the steps needed to ensure every employee is treated fairly.

People attending this presentation will find answers to these questions:

  • What are employers’ obligations under federal, state, and local law?
  • What is a reasonable accommodation?
  • What is the interactive process, and what triggers it?
  • What happens when individuals with disabilities experience performance issues?
  • What are other emerging employment issues?

The session is free for members and $20 for non-members (includes lunch).
